THE GREEN TRANSFORMATION PROCESS OF ODE

ODE Insulation has proceeded to acquire new Environmental Product Decleration (EPD) documents for specific product lines. Ms. Ayşe, Technical Office Manager of ODE Insulation, stated that EPD documents they had obtained for 16 product lines had been published on EPD's official website, www.environdec.com. She said that "As we share all environmental impacts of our products with the public in a transparent manne and we also aim to contribute the raising awareness of the environment in the insulation and construction sector."

The European Green Deal (EUGD) which aims to make Europe climate neutral and to ensure a sustainable economy for the European Union is of close interest for the business world as well. Particularly, regulations within the framework of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism that will be implemented within the scope of EUGD redetermine the rules of international trade. ODE Insulation, a leading brand in the insulation sector in Turkey and in over 75 countries on six continents to where it exports its products, registers its environmentally aware manufacturing mission which it continued to maintain through the green transformation process with internationally recognized documentation. ODE, the only insulation company having earned the internationally recognized Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certificate which is compatible with European standards and which applies for all markets to all groups of insulation products manufactured by the company has proceeded to acquire EPD documents for each of the company's product lines. Within the scope of this endeavour, 16 product lines manufactured by ODE have been awarded EPD documents. The documents were published on EPD's official website, www.environdec.com.

Ms. Ayşe Miray Şen: "We declare the environmental effect of our products with transparency."

Ms. Ayşe Miray Şen, Technical Office Manager of ODE Insulation offered information about product groups and product lines with EPD documents and said, "We, ODE Insulation, manufacture and export extruded polystyrene-based thermal insulating materials; bituminous waterproofing blankets; glass wool products used for heat, sound, and fire insulation; and elastomeric rubber foam insulating materials at our manufacturing facilities in Eskişehir and Çorlu. We are the only insulation company which has EPD documentation for all four of these product groups. We are now proud to have obtained this documentation for each of our product lines."

Stating they were declaring the environmental impact of building materials they manufacture through EPD documents, Ms. Şen went on to say, "EPD are documents that are defined in accordance with the ISO 14025 standard, in which the environmental impact of a product or service throughout its life cycle is declared. EPD declaration is the way manufacturers assume responsibility for the environmental impacts of the products they manufacture and the services they provide. As we share all environmental impacts of our products with transparency in keeping with our environmentally aware manufacturing mission, we also aim to contribute to raising awareness of the environment in the insulation and construction sector."

"We support the green transformation process with our EPD documented products"

Ms. Ayşe Miray Şen who also mentioned the positive effects of the EPD documents within the scope of the European Green Deal which aims to make Europe climate neutral by 2050 commented, "In this period where we are experiencing serious crises due to global warming and climate change in our country and around the world shows we need to be much more aware of the environment and to take necessary measures without wasting time. EPD documented products support this approach with responsible selection of materials and approach to production. The EPD document which is a priority choosing point for international green building systems is also expected to be a reference document for the Carbon Border Tax within the framework of the Green Deal. "We, ODE Insulation support the green transformation process with our EPD documented products."

"We will reach Europe's zero waste objective 2050 in 2023."

Ms. Şen stated that they had formed an Energy Efficiency committee in the company in order to keep abreast of all developments within the scope of the European Green Deal, in addition to EPD, and said, "We are already close to reaching the zero waste objective set by Europe for 2050. We are continuing our efforts to reduce our energy and water consumption. We have obtained a license to set up a photovoltaic system on the roof of our factory in Eskişehir and we will be using renewable energy in this facility from now on. We are constantly implementing improvement projects with A3 and Kaizen. We have had a 2 MW cogeneration facility in Çorlu since 2012. With this facility we save energy costs by generating electricity and utilize waste heat in the heating stages of membrane and resin manufacturing processes. We also utilize this system to heat buildings. While we are carrying out all this work, we also aim to raise awareness in our suppliers and our sector. This is because an increased awareness of this issue in the sector will help ensure a sustainable life and also provide a competitive edge in overseas markets. We attach great importance to this matter with regard to contributing to our nation's economy."
